Free blood sugar, cholesterol screenings given A cholesterol and blood sugar screening will be done from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, 1208 W. Main St., Jacksonville. The screening is open to the public free of charge. Tests will be conducted by Rebsamen Home Health nurses. Those who would like a blood sugar test should fast for two hours prior to the testing. Water, black coffee and diet soft drinks are fine to drink. For more information, call 982-2591. Jacksonville Sertoma club has baseball tourney This year the Jacksonville Sertoma Club, in conjunction with the Jacksonville Wal-Mart Supercenter, will again sponsor the Sam Hoover Memorial 3-on-3 basketball tournament on April 24 starting at 9 a.m. Participants in grades 7 to 12 will not have to pay the required registration fee of $75 per four-person team. Local businesses and individual donations will cover their registration fees. Deadline to register is Friday, April 23 at 6 p.m. To register, contact Ron McDaniel at 982-1340 or by pager at 373-9116.
