Cabot's
annual chili-cooking contest draws crowds for fun and fellowship
===The annual Cabot Community
Chili Cookin' returned last Saturday for a fun-filled community event
in Cabot Junior High North's cafeteria. The event is a joint effort
of the school's Key Club and other members of the Cabot 'K Family'
the Kiwanis Club, Builders Club and K-Kids Club. Proceeds go to the
clubs' community-oriented projects.
=== Teams from the Cabot business community,
clubs, schools and churches concocted often mouth-watering special recipes
to tantalize the crowd which assembled for the sampling.
===Chet Chaney took the prize for best
chili in the youth division and best decorated booth team went to the
Builders Club from Cabot Middle School South.
=== They had an elaborately decorated booth
with a Hawaiian theme. Habitat for Humanity stood out with its Wizard
of Oz themed booth and took best decoration in the adult division.
=== All for Pets and veterinarian Teresa
Allen and Tina Thomas took best chili in the adult division.
=== The chili was served from specially
decorated booths and trophies were awarded for best chili and for best
decorated booths after those assembled for the event cast their votes.
=== Key Club president Amber Mitchell said
that bowls, spoons, napkins, crackers, tea and water were provided and
hot dogs, soft drinks and desserts were also available. Members of some
of the clubs such as Cabot Builders and K-Kids also had items for sale
including ice cream bars to quell the chili's fire.
=== A silent auction of donated goods was
held by the Cabot Kiwanis Club and those who attended had a chance to
place their bids, fill their stomachs and take home some special items.
