Johnny Simpson, 78, of JacksonvilleFree Access

Johnny Franklin Simpson, 78, of Jacksonville, passed away on Jan. 19. 

Johnny was born in England in 1945 to Roland and Susie Simpson. He was drafted into the Army in 1965 and re-enlisted in 1968, retiring after 20 years in 1985.  He spent 20 additional years in service to the U.S. Post Office.

Always a giver, Johnny volunteered all over the community with a smile. Johnny was a permanent fixture at city council meetings and with the Police Auxiliary for many years. He gained friends wherever he went.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father and many siblings.

He is survived by his wife Dorothy Simpson; his children, Marie Vickery, Johnny (Jennifer) Simpson, Kate Winters, Amy Jo Ayres and Tim Sanders; grandchildren, Stephanie Jones, Andrea Kelley, Trevor Brown, Roland (Lauriel) Simpson, Katelyn Simpson, William Sanders and Gabriella Sanders; nine great-grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, and a community of great friends.

Visitation will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 25 with a funeral service starting at 10 a.m. in the chapel of A Natural State Funeral Service in Jacksonville. Burial will follow at noon at the Arkansas State Veteran’s Cemetery in North Little Rock.
