Man shot and killed after raising shotgun

Austin cop and deputy responded to woman who was shot at on Seminole Dr. Drive.

Dustin Black, 24, of Beebe died on Saturday from being shot by an Austin police officer and a Lonoke County sheriff’s deputy after Black allegedly raised a shotgun at them. State Police were requested to investigate the officer-involved shooting.
The incident began at 8 p.m. at 24 Seminole Circle in Austin, when Black reportedly fired a shotgun at a woman. The victim was not hit and Black fled from the scene on foot.
Officers located Black around 10:30 p.m. outside the home where the shooting occurred earlier. He was armed with a shotgun. Both officers told Black to drop the gun. Black raised his gun at the two officers, who fired at Black, wounding him.
An ambulance was called to the scene by the officers, who then approached Black and provided life-sustaining aid. Black died at 11:33 p.m. while being treated at a North Little Rock hospital.
His body was transported to the state crime laboratory for an autopsy.
State Police Criminal Inves-tigation Division special agents were preparing an investigative case file that will be turned-over to the Lonoke County prosecuting attorney, who will determine whether the use of deadly force by the two officers was consistent with state laws.
